Seventh... A little introduction of Israel
Let's listen to the beautiful Israeli national anthem.
The Capital of Israel is Tel Aviv. A person from Israel is called Israeli.
The State of Israel (Hebrew: מְדִינַת יִשְׂרָאֵל (without niqqud: מדינת ישראל), transliteration: Medinat Yisra'el; Arabic: دَوْلَةْ إِسْرَائِيل, transliteration: Dawlat Israil) is a country in the Middle East on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea. A parliamentary democracy, it is the world's only Jewish state.
The area on which the State of Israel now stands was the birthplace of Judaism in the 10th century BCE or earlier and of Christianity at the beginning of the 1st century CE.
The population of Israel is about 80 percent Jewish, and 66 percent of Israeli Jews were born in Israel: the rest were born in other countries and arrived as immigrants or refugees. About 20 percent of the population are Arabs, mostly Muslim, although some are Christian or Druze (see Israeli Arab). In most respects, non-Jewish Israelis enjoy full political and civic equality (although some laws favour Jewish citizens), but Israel is not a secular or multicultural state in the purest sense. It is official policy to preserve Israel as a Jewish state in both an ethnic and a religious sense.
